Alessandro Furlan was born in Treviso, Italy December 1st, 1959 and grew up in Reggio Emilia. Since 1984 he has worked in the cinema-television and interactive multimedia sectors, dividing his activities between Milan, Rome and Reggio Emilia. At the age of 24 he produced his first video, which was subsequently selected for the major Italian festivals; at 27 he moved to Milan where he directed a program for RAI and was the Italian editor for a European video magazine. At the age of 29 he moved to Rome to work for DIGITALIA, a firm specializing in the production (for RAI, RadioTelevisione Italiana and other companies) of 2- and 3D computer graphic elaborations and mixed technique productions (film, video, photo, computer, 2- and 3D animations, Paint-Box, Henry Quantel, off-line digital montage, digital effects, etc.) While with this company he was responsible both for technical-productive aspects (layout planning with respect to resources and budget), promotion and project planning aspects.
After leaving Digitalia, he worked for various Rome and Milan companies developing technological and commercial, as well as creative, aspects of multimedia productions.
Through his experience he has become an expert in virtual scenography; in HDTV (in '93 the CLUB D'INVESTISSEMENT MEDIA awarded 200,000 Euro to one of his projects in HDTV 1250 High Definition entitled "Pinacoteca"); in interactive systems (various productions); in 3D stereoscopic images (for journals, film and video); and finally, in mixed techniques and management (interfacing and optimizing various types of image generators according to creative requirements and budget).
Production procedures for his various projects planned and completed have brought him into collaboration with: RAI (various facets), Tele Più, De Agostini, Electa Multimedia, Philips, Quantel, Philip Morris (Cinema Project), B.T.S., as well as various producers, advertising agencies, publishing houses and television companies. From 1995 he’s art director and production manager in Altair 4 Multimedia.
