Synopsis

The documentary traces the history of Bologna from the end of the Great War to the mid-thirties through the figure of Leandro Arpinati, ras of local fascism and leading figure of national fascism for his direct links with Mussolini.

The parable of Bolognese fascism, or rather of the first Bolognese fascism, is proposed in the crescendo of the narrative that starts from the events of the period 1919-22: from the squadrismo of the first hour, when the agrarians financed the fascists after the Paglia-Calda agreement, to the direct clash with the socialist junta of Ennio Gnudi that resulted in the events of Palazzo d'Accursio on November 21, 1920; from the contrast between Arpinati and Dino Grandi, to the affirmation of the former at local and national level that allows him to elaborate a model of fascism represented by the realization of the Littoriale, up to his defenestration for internal clashes within the regime, which certainly does not coincide with the end of fascism in Bologna.
