Synopsis

Finis Terrae is the vision of a trip to the extermination camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau. It is not a documentary where you explain things or illustrate history. It is rather participation in images in a pilgrimage, in a rite of contrition, in a radical emotional experience.

At stake, more than the horror of a past, is the need for a present. This present.

In a place where countless people have been absurdly made to vanish, the film gives us back with an eminently inner evidence the sound corporeality of their ghosts, the salvific emergency of their admonishing presence.

The camera moves away from rhetoric, on the edge of the "end of the Earth", and often frames pavements, floors, courtyards. What welcomed the footsteps and bodies of the deportees for the last time.

The film is dedicated to them and we are taking care of them.
