Synopsis

The documentary is the chronicle of Luciano Lama's life, one of the major trade unionists of Italian history. From the years of the Resistance to when he was the Mayor of Amelia, a small town in Umbria, Italy. From the years with 'his mentor Di Vittorio' to the secretariat of the Cgil. Through the stories of who were close to him, we retrace his steps from the 50's and 60's, when Lama was head of chemists and then of head of factory workers, in the engineering industry. But the true protagonists were the 70s and 80s, when Lama lead the principal Italian trade union, becoming secretary in its most fervent years and thus having to face battle after battle: the agreement on the fixed point of the cost of living, the fuel crisis, the Eur change, the fight on terrorism, the referendum on the index linked pay scale. In 1986, having reached the age limit, Luciano Lama resigns during a memorable congress. Afterwards he is engaged in the political-institutional commitments as vice-president of the Senate and Mayor of Amelia.
