Mount Ventasso, for those who live on its slopes, is "in tel fade", "where the fairies live". From its summit, the ethereal presences of a remote ancestral cult protect those who live attached to the mountain...
The documentary film is a journey through the places, the magic and the memory of the Reggio Emilia Apennines: Lake Calamone immersed in the autumn mists, the deserted square of Nismozza under the abundant snowfalls of late winter, the memories of war and resistance, the tradition of May, the stories carved in the stones, the sound of the wind on the ridge of Cusna... Maps, paths, reflections, fragments of past and present time: a journey in search of the soul of places, accompanied by different voices, because there are a thousand interpretations and points of view on a territory. As Benedetto, one of the witnesses of this story, says, each of us sees the landscape that surrounds us with different colors and shades, and the Pietra di Bismantova is a different stone depending on the point of view from which you observe it. Emblematic of all is the attentive gaze of the photographer-watchmaker Amanzio Fiorini, originally from Nismozza, who forever fixed the faces and lives of thousands of mountain people in his precious images. Today, his daughter and granddaughter remember him through his shots, along the paths of memory and identity, which link the stories of places and people in a single plot.
