Synopsis

Bologna. The year 2156. Two eccentric Bolognese scientists try to save the planet that orbits in darkness and chaos, transforming lost passions into energy. The center of their research is the Palasport in Bologna which – despite looking like an abandoned ruin – is still full of life and the echoes of thousands of cultural and sporting events that have followed one another over time.

The whole building. Bologna 2156: return to Basket City is an amarcord full of passion and history, told by Emilio Marrese and Paolo Muran, with the irresistible verve of Vito and Bob Messini, and surprising special effects.

Telling the story of the sports hall is however a way to tell a piece of the life of Bologna and the Bolognese.

The authors Marrese and Muran have embarked on a narrative and original path in recent years, appreciated by the public and critics, and the history of the Palasport is another important stage.

The film  is not only a story of basketball but also of the city, of a part of the center reborn after the Second World War, of a far-sighted mayor like Giuseppe Dozza who was the creator, of an exportable model of good administration and architecture, of the social and costume changes experienced over the years and which have inevitably had a mirror and a catalyst in the sports hall, as in any pulsating and aggregating center of local life.

And if it is true, as someone wrote, that passions are the holes through which the soul of men is seen, the PalaDozza is the magnifying glass on the Bolognese passion not only for basketball, but also for music and politics, having hosted many incredible events and personalities
