Synopsis
Women's football in Italy is the Cinderella of sports: mocked and mocked, while abroad it is very popular. There is a club in Reggio Emilia - the Reggiana Femminile - that perfectly embodies this history: it is the most famous club in the city but it fails to survive financially in Serie A and for 40 years, periodically (lack of sponsors, lack of interest of local administrations) it has had to relegate and then go back up, win and sink again. A paradoxical story, a perfect metaphor for the crazy management of Italian football and the machismo with which it is permeated.
Director's notes
The documentary was born from the project of the Reggio Emilia Sports Foundation to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the birth of the Reggiana Femminile (1976-2016). Filming took place between March and May 2016, just before the club was absorbed by Sassuolo Calcio, and tells stories, passion, sweat and sacrifices directly from the voices of the protagonists of this long ride.
